Although Waylon is no longer with us physically, he lives on through the lives of eight precious babies that needed him in order to survive. He will forever be the hero of our hearts. This is his story.
Three month old Waylon Hudson aspirated on his bottle while with his parents. He was rushed to Santa Rosa Medical Center where they were able to revive him long enough to be life flighted to Sacred Heart Hospital.
Upon his parents arrival at Sacred Heart, they were told he suffered a traumatic brain bleed and he wouldn’t survive long. He was on life support for four days with no brain activity and his parents were faced with having to make the decision that no parent wants to make. We all prayed for a miracle.
The night that Rhonda and Jessie had to take their sweet baby off life support, was a nightmare for them, as it would have been for any parent. Although, this was the worst night imaginable for them, there was still light at the end of the dark tunnel. Not long after being told he wouldn’t make it, they were informed that Waylon was a match for eight children needing organ transplants to survive.
They walked him down the “Hall of Heroes” on July 26th, 2019 @ 11 p.m., and my what a beautiful thing it was.
This community has come together in honor of Waylon and his family in a way I’ve never seen. Thank you all so much for donating towards the cost of medical bills and funeral expenses. His family is so thankful for every prayer, wish, and thought for Waylon.
A Memorial Service for Waylon will be held at 4:00 p.m., Sunday, August 4, 2019, at Russell Harbor Landing in Milton.
Lewis Funeral Home of Milton has been entrusted with arrangements.
