On June 20, 2019, Amy Pressley passed away suddenly in Pace, Florida.
Amy was born in Denver, Colorado, in 1970, to parents, Larry and Glenda Funderburg. The family moved to Union Star, Missouri, and Amy graduated from Union Star High School in 1989. She went on to join the US Navy and chose to help people by becoming a Hospital Corpsman “DOC”. Amy spent four years in the Navy traveling the world, before settling down and marrying her husband Gene in 1993. She gave birth to a son in 1995 (Blake) while living in Hawaii, in her words “my greatest achievement in life”.
They never really settled in any one place as Gene served his country in the Navy for the next twenty years. They eventually “retired” and settled in Pace, Florida, where Amy enjoyed shooting guns and spending time with her family and friends. Amy was beloved by all and will be sorely missed by all that had the pleasure of knowing her.
A military funeral service will be held at 1400 (2:00 p.m.) on Monday, July 01, 2019, at the Barrancas National Cemetery in Pensacola, Florida. The family invites all of Amy’s friends to come and celebrate her life with them.
“Whatever you are physically...male or female, strong or weak, ill or healthy--all those things matter less than what your heart contains. If you have the soul of a warrior, you are a warrior. All those other things, they are the glass that contains the lamp, but you are the light inside.”
The family requests, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made, in Amy’s name, to the ASPCA (American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals).
